reparing for houseguests can always be a daunting task. Are they comfortable, do they need anything…are all questions that haunt us every time someone stays over. Here are some tips on how to make them as comfortable as possible…almost like they are in their own homes.
Make the bed
The bed is the most important. Make sure that the sheets are recently washed and put out, and the pillows are fluffed. Go the distance when it comes to the linen. Keep everything from the bedspread and bed sheet to the duvet. Ensure that there are sufficient pillows for added comfort.
Make Space in the Dresser and Closet
Living out of a suitcase might sound exciting but it’s not always so. It’s always nice to give your guests some closet space. A little space in the dresser, maybe just the first drawer, will make a whole lot of difference to make them feel more at home.
Remove Personal Items
As far as possible do not keep any personal items in the guest bedroom. You don’t want them to stumble upon things you don’t want them to see. Instead, place a statement accent piece if a space looks a bit empty.
The Guest Bath
Bath towels, hand towels, toilette paper, soap, shampoo…ensure that all of this and anything else you can think of is at their disposal when your guests arrive. As far as possible avoid making your guests feel uncomfortable by having to ask for something they want. Also, store extra bed and bath linen in a cabinet for any additional needs.
Provide Reading Material
If your guest bedroom doesn’t have a TV then keep some kind of reading material in place so that your guests get to spend some quality me time and don’t find it necessary to make conversation with the family members at all times of the day.
