Smart Decor Ideas for Kids' Room:
It's the perfect way to instill and foster the ownership syndrome in your kids.
For Your Funky Monkeys
Children are little balls of curiosity. They are restless and get bored of the same activity very quickly and are constantly looking for new challenges. The key is to keep them engaged. Plan interesting activities around the home, engage them in storytelling sessions, and encourage them to read, paint or create. Transform their room into one big activity centre! For instance, we created a colourful shelf with an old ladder and a board of commercial ply spray painted in a bright popping green.
The Art Wall
If your son daughter has a flair for drawing and art, give him/ her a free hand at what he/ she wants up on the walls around him/ her. What's important is the sense of pride that develops his/ her love for his/ her home. Create an art wall just with their creations and photographs. This will instill in them a sense of ownership and urge them to create more!
Dream Rooms
When was the last time you saw your child playing with an imaginary friend? Imagination is key to their development. Only through imagination does your kid get new ideas and try them out in the real world, testing his/her own limits. Activities like reading, playing, drawing develop imagination and creativity. Create activity walls inspired by their favourite fictional characters or books. Let this be dynamic. Create landscapes that you can have your children cut out and adhere to the walls.
Cut, Copy, Paste!
A lot of children fancy working with scissors and gluesticks. Encourage your little angels to get crafty with artworks for their bedroom. Plan activity evenings with their friends. It could be anything — board games, craft, drawing or even cooking.
Special Skill Sets
For slightly older boys, who prefer their Lego and are robotically inclined, this one will come as a special treat. Use magnetic paint to create interactive wall-scapes where they will want to hang around. Take, for instance, this motorway we drew out for a stint with Hot Wheels.
Get Them Involved
It helps when children choose their own furnishings and wall colours. The more you involve them in the decision-making process, the more they'll love their home. It lays a strong foundation for great family values.
