I feel fairly confident in proclaiming that the navy blue sofa has been the furniture darling of the design world for the last year or so. Anyone with eyes trolling Pinterest and decor glossies would certainly agree, but what happens next? As much as I am a full-on supporter of the sapphire sofa movement (one that I regretfully didn’t partake in), allow me to introduce you to what I’d like to predict will be the new decor sweetheart…

The emerald (or hunter) green sofa.

While I don’t necessarily think navy is going to be completely phased out anytime soon (or ever), the infiltration of the hue will surely make decor lovers grow apathetic. Enter the dark green couch. It still packs the same glam jewel-toned punch, but introduces an unexpected earthiness and warmth that blue just can’t touch. Perhaps it’s an echo to our recent plant obsessions, a craving for natural elements (ideal for those with black thumbs like me!).

Though certainly a more brazen choice than navy (which essentially goes with just about any other color), green is a very deliberate decor choice for furniture. That doesn’t mean, however, that it’s hard to coordinate. Emerald green pairs just as beautifully with simple neutrals (it looks particularly luscious with black, white and gold) as it does cheery yellows and pretty pinks.

The deep viridescent shade is one we’re excited to see blossom in interiors this year and to usher in the trend, I present to you an eye-catching array of rooms with this ahead-of-the-curve furnishing.
