We’ve discussed other body parts as decorative motifs on home decor products before, from breasts to butts . But I think the latest incarnation of this trend has got to be hands. It’s kind of unclear when and where this all started. Classic antiquity? I kid, I kid. Seriously though, palm-shaped chairs have been something you could stumble upon at flea markets for a while, if you were lucky.
And I do remember those brass Noir Furniture hand sculptures popping up on shelves and on coffee tables in a couple of higher end home tours a few years ago. $160 to be perpetually flipped off? Not so much for me, but I can almost get behind that pricey of a thumbs up or peace sign.
These days though, you don’t have to shell out that kind of money to top a stack of books with a sculptural hand or use one as a vase or pencil cup. Knockoffs abound, and you can find “hands” as oversized stools and even shrunken down into super tiny ashtrays, dishes and hooks.
And you can find hand patterns all over wallpaper, textiles, and art prints.
Safe to say hands and palms are having a moment right now. Ready to try this anatomical trend out? These are, hands down, the best picks out there. Had to!
